This second photo shows a detail shot of the piece with the gesso texture applied. You can see how each section was given a different texture. |
The third photo shows the piece with the first coats of color applied. Different sections were given different colors as base coats, for contrast and balance in the finished work. | ![]() |

The fourth photo shows the piece after the 2nd and 3rd colors have been applied. Each color is painted on then pulled off, usually with a palette knife or my hands, to expose some of the underlaying colors. |
The fifth photo shows work with the 4th and 5th color layers applied. Quite a few of the sections received some of the same color layers. However, due to the different textures of each section, and the different underlaying colors, each section has it's own distinct characteristics. | ![]() |

The seventh photo shows finished piece in full, which can also be seen on the Deconstructing Home Series/Broadway & Chambers page. You can see that the glass blocks have been cleaned of the masking tape, and composite photos of buildings have been placed behind the glass blocks. There is a detail shot of the glass block photo on the Broadway & Chambers page in the Deconstructing Home Series section. | ![]() |
